J160 gearbox- Gearset for lower 6th gear ratio

Description

Are you using a J160 and wish to lower your engines highway RPM in 6th gear? Well then this is the very cheap and effective answer. This will result in both improved fuel economy and reduced engine wear.

This pair of gears make up the 6th gear in an AZ6 gearbox. Both are new and genuine Nissan / Aisin spares and they are directly compatible with both variants of Toyota’s J160 transmission. Simply remove the existing pair of gears and then fit these in place with no custom work needed.

OEM J160: (1 : 0.869)

Upgrade: (1 : 0.767)

As an example where an engine originally required 3300RPM for 100Km/h (As normally seen with a 4.3:1 Diff ratio) it would be lowered to 2910RPM.

– To swap these gears requires a puller set with a long reach and they can also be stubborn to remove off the shafts.
